With the increased time we now spend in our homes, the quality of the air we breathe can influence our health even more. With the rise of more energy-efficient homes, outdoor air is less able to enter, but this efficiency does not allow indoor pollutants to exit. Levels of many common pollutants have been shown to be 2 to 5 times higher than outdoors.
What are some of the benefits?
These Fantech filtration systems help to increase ventilation and filtration of the air coming into your home. These systems are “99.97% effective at removing particles down to 0.3 microns and larger” (Fantech). Particles such as dust, mold spores, and some viruses are caught with the HEPA filter used in the unit. The system even captures odors and gases from pet dander, cooking, and smoke.
What makes this system different from portable air filters?
The system can clean the total volume of air within the house at an average of once each hour. Instead of purchasing many air filters for each room, this system can clean the entire home, ideal for homes up to 3,600 square feet. The unit can be installed on existing ductwork of a forced air furnace or air handler, or it can be installed as an independent system.
What type of filter does the system use?
The system utilizes 3 filter layers. The prefilter catches larger particles like hair or debris. The second layer is made of carbon, capturing and neutralizing odors. The third HEPA layer catches particles down to 0.3 microns. The prefilter and carbon filter are recommended to be replaced every 3 months. The HEPA layer is recommended to be replaced every 2-5 years depending on the level of pollutants in the home.
